15 September 2009
This submission by Environment Business Australia is on behalf of the Bio-CCS group.
Five major projects
15 September 2009
EBA's Chairman and CEO have written to the Prime Minister proposing a 'five major projects approach' to tackling climate change and generating wealth through the development of new markets, industries and jobs. The letter outlines 5 key approaches for Australia and the policy steps that are needed to enable them. There is a focus on the CPRS and complementary measures.
11 September 2009
EBA and its members are advocating a range of solutions including smarter cities and transport systems. The Bio CCS approach has also been outlined in more detail to show the potential for large scale draw down of atmospheric carbon using terrestrial and biosequestration take-up of CO2 and using CO2 from coal-fired power plants as feedstock for diesel, animal fodder and soil fertiliser.
19 August 2009
EBA's 'five project' approach includes recommendations for immediate action on energy efficiency and bringing forward funding from the Climate Change Action Fund (CCAF), which formed the basis for the letter to the Prime Minister.
Letter to the Prime Minister
10 August 2009
..."EBA believes that assertive action taken now presents new opportunities to lay the foundation to build new value, prosperity and resilience into economies. The challenge ahead of
Australia and the rest of the world therefore is not one of debating the political feasibility of action but
finding a way to deliver the outcomes that are required as speedily as possible."

A 'clean, green energy revolution'
can help secure Australia's future prosperity and economic resilience.
It is now in the hands of the Senate to unleash stimulus and long-term investment
into the innovation necessary.
EBA's Submission on the Renewable Energy Target to the Senate Economics Legislation Committee
20 July 2009
A 'clean, green energy revolution' has renewable energy at its core. Environment
Business Australia strongly supports the Renewable Energy Target and its further
development to ensure Australia harnesses its vast renewable energy sources and
develops the full commercial potential of this sector to:
- Unleash stimulus and long-term investment into innovation
- Build new markets, new industries, new jobs
- Reduce greenhouse gas emissions
- Help secure Australia's future prosperity and economic resilience

Building new markets, new industries, new jobs - the upside of the Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme
March 2009
This submission from Environment Business Australia (EBA) concerns the Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme
(CPRS) and the White Paper.
EBA's focus is on creating and protecting prosperity by building new markets, new industries and new jobs
that help to tackle climate change and the financial and economic crisis together.
Strong climate action vital for a vibrant economy
5 March 2009
Build new markets, new industries, new jobs - that's the way to tackle climate change. And now is the time to invest in creating hundreds of thousands of high quality 'carbon-light' jobs says Environment Business Australia. Imagine Australia being a regional 'hub' for minerals processing and manufacturing and having 100% of electricity from renewable energy by 2030. We can do that with 'mega clean energy parks' run on solar thermal, geothermal, marine and wind energy.
EBA submission to the Carbon pollution reduction scheme
September 2008
The Australian environment industry and cleantech sector is amongst
the world's leaders in innovation but it has not had a level playing field
access to market. This is because the cost of traditional fossil fuel energy is
referred to as "cheap" or "low cost". Even in the Garnaut Review and Green Paper
this is the case. But once negative externalities of pollution are included,
fossil fuels are no longer the lowest cost option. Even today, superficial cost
analysis continues to undermine the true economic benefits that are available.
This is an economics, a security, an environmental, and a community issue.
Serious costs are entailed - some of which are irrevocable and could never be
measured in monetary terms.
